Need betterment @ govt offices

It was one fine day, me and my friend visited "JAYAPRAKASH NARAYANA MAALIGAI",  the so called employment exchange located at santhome, chennai which literally says "Employement to everyone". I was shocked to look at the crowd where a mass of people of all ages were already waiting to get their new subscription cards, renewal cards..blah blah....

We inquired about the procedure and finally found the place where the forms for freshers were kept. After filling the necessary details in the form, we submitted it. The officer asked us to wait outside to collect our cards. I found many girls from outskirts of city who failed to submit their necessary proofs like ration card, community certificate etc, were told to make a call to their home and send d copy of proof via a fax machine. I was happy to hear that officer's suggestion to those girls. But, happened what? "powercut" announced by tamil nadu govt for an hour. Those girls were in a hope that they could take print out after an hour, unfortunately, a transformer sparkled for a while and it was again a power cut thatlasted for a long time.

And there was no proper waiting place for the people as everyone was supposed to wait outside which looked like "people are hanging towards the government for their job". Does it look good? Atlast when the power came the officer called out d names and issued their respective cards. It was funny as he called the name akila as"aala", vijayarani as "jayarani" and made so much of confusion. My name and my friend's name were called in the last moment and he handed our card. As the clock stuck 4 pm, everyone dispersed from that place and the office was closed. I wish that Tamil Nadu Govt can better improve their office premises with
1) place to rest [for public not officers]
2) drinking water and rest rooms
3) uninterrupted power supply
4) computerised methods
5) last but not d least, respect the public

Hi Priya...
Nice first post...

and yes, all government offices are like this only. People are given poor assistance and shown bad behavior. And most off all they hardly value our time and assume that they are the only people with work on their hands.

This is something which most Indians take it for granted, as they have suffered such ordeals ( i had a terrible time at the Thasildar's office few years back.. still get nightmares )...

I hope that we are alive long enough to see the reforms that u demand...!!!

As was said, this is a common scenario in any Govt Office.(I experienced a horrible time at the PP office). Yes, they think they are the master. Apparently, yes. :)
And your wish list made me laugh.

"place to rest [ for public not officers] 2) drinking water and rest rooms 3) uninterrupted power suppy 4) computerised methods 5) last but not d least -respect to public"

As Laloo once said "Jab tak samosa me aalu rahega, tad tak bihar mei Laloo rahega", these things will be there forever.

And hey, welcome to blogosphere. :)

“Irresponsibility” is found dwelling n each &every table of govt offices due to which v r undergoing such despicable experience!!!!!
Actually simple things r made complicated n des offices they r making us to wonder Y such draggy process for a simple task!!! The procedure goes as such v hav to fill d application form for registration which s been verified with address proof then latter they r giving a print out with a register number, name&address, nxt date for renewal dats set nothing else...........jst for getting dis print out they r making us to wait for nearly 4 to 5 hrs isn't it horrible......n dis fast moving digital world y such govt offices r so inert????????? dis work can b made simpler by having a system and print out side by side so dat instantly after verification print outs can b issued.....so der wont b any business of waiting, crowd, waste of time etc etc.......This process if feel very fit if so d whole registration s made online….
Anyway Its worthless of expecting a betterment from govrnment but still lets anticipate for a better day!!!!
